And other myths pottery teaches us.
Multi-tasking is a thing only women can do? Not really, us women may be able to two simple processes at once, but that's cognitive coordination.
If you've ever touched clay, you know what I'm talking about. I can't touch anything, that I don't want to be covered in mud, when I'm working with clay. Can't take that phone call. Can't pick up that sandwich. Can't even pet the dog (without needing to give it a bath).
If you find yourself overwhelmed, thinking you need to do more, slow down. A few deep breaths. Then laugh, how much progress would you make if everything you touched left mud behind? Look at all the things you've just 'touched' and realize, that would only create more work for yourself.
Please accept this metaphor as the reality of multi-tasking. It's a great way to muck things up! Instead, make a better plan (use that cognitive coordination muscle) and knock it out, one thing at a time.
Now, the studio is calling me...
